Soul man Leon Ware gets a memorial tribute all the way from the Netherlands with the latest from Professor Eddy and Martijn Soetens aka The Smooth Operators.
The Smooth Operators pay tribute to soul legend Leon Ware, who passed away yesterday. Besides a solo career as a singer with a velvet voice, Ware was best known for producing and writing songs for other artists, most notably on ‘I want you’, the classic album by Marvin Gaye. He also worked with soul giants like Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Maxwell, Minnie Riperton, Brenda Russell, The Isley Brothers, among many others. He was not a man of many big hits, but his influence was enormous. So one of the last true soul men has left the stage, but his songs remain in our memory.
