Missy Elliott just made history.

Missy Elliott is now the first female rapper to become a 2019 Songwriters Hall Of Fame nominee.

According to Associated Press, Missy could become the third rapper in history to enter the prestigious organization, following Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri.

With a career spanning more than two decades, the rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, and overall icon, has crafted songs for Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, Diddy, Whitney Houston, and more. Songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for a minimum of 20 years.

Missy responded to the news on Twitter, writing, "i am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers."

Missy is among the performing nominees, which includes Mariah Carey, Chrissie Hynde, Vince Gill, Mike Love, Jimmy Cliff, Jeff Lynne, Cat Stevens, John Prine, Lloyd Price, Tommy James and the Eurythmics (Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart). And the non-performing nominees are Jack Tempchin, Dean Dillon, Jerry Fuller, Tom T. Hall, Roger Nichols and Dallas Austin.

Six songwriters or songwriting groups will be inducted at the 50th annual Induction & Awards Gala in New York on June 13, 2019.

In 2022, Missy will be eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Let's hope she makes that milestone, too.

And throw in a future MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award while we're at it.
