Mike Dean Takes Nardwuar Down The Houston Rap Wormhole In New Interview

On the surface Mike Dean and Nardwuar are virtually worlds apart; one serving as Kanye's go-to producer and engineer for the better part of the last decade, the other serving as the world's most dedicated researcher and interviewer. But should you put the two in a room together, an entire lineage of post-eighties southern sounds unfurls.

Which makes Nardy's most recent interview one for the ages, as he and Dean travel down the Houston rap wormhole together and dig up all kinds of gems along the way. The ritual gift-giving is intact, of course, sparking the blunt-toting legend's memory for recollections of his earliest musical moments in Houston's pioneering hip-hop scene alongside The Geto Boys (in various early formations, even recounting the days before Scarface had joined the group,) as well as various Fifth Ward acts during his Rap-A-Lot Records tenure. Dean's got tales days, and there's no better way to spend the next ten minutes of your lunch break.

Peep Mike Dean's full interview with The Human Serviette down below, shot entirely from the floor of his mobile studio. You can also head over to his Soundcloud page to see his G.O.O.D. Music productions and solo cuts.
