Kings of contemporary psychedelia MGMT premiered the official video for the single "Cool Song No. 2" starring Michael K. Williams of HBO'The Wire yesterday. The track comes to us from their freshly released and highly anticipated self-titled album, the follow up to 2010's Oracular Spectacular. Somewhere between Central Park and the Sahara lay the roots of this sensuously lo-fi and subby tune, full of strong melodies and exceptional rock and roll sensibilities. The openness of their creative process and experimental nature of their catalog is driven by all-out tonal excursions that in themselves provide the listener with an almost criminally nomadic narrative to follow through the visually halting video for the song.

The video is like Omar meets Walt White and Jesse Pinkman in a psychedelic thriller not unlike Enter The Void. With the grandeur of desert sunsets and drugs that seem to induce tree-like disfigurements, the video is the second best thing for those individuals who didn't get the chance to see Diddy at Burning Man this year. Not to mention, from Omar Little to Chalky White to a stick up artist marauding the desert, the video proves how virtually anything Michael K. Williams does is going to be magical. Fast cars, drugs, murder and bleeding plants makes this video one not to miss, and you best believe Omar comin'for ya. Peep MGMT's hazy hallucination invoking video below.
