This week, Mariah Carey will become the first artist to top the charts in four separate decades.

Mariah Carey is ringing in the decades with an outstanding accomplishment. This past week, her seasonal classic "All I Want for Christmas is You" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the third week in a row. The week's results--dated January 4, 2020--will make her the first artist to reach the top of the charts in four separate decades.

With the help of a previously-unreleased music video, "All I Want" gained 72.2 million streams in the United States last week. The total shows a 33% streaming increase from the previous week. The song, originally released in 1994, was the first holiday-themed number-one entry on the chart in 61 years.

Carey surged past musical titans like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Elton John, who previously charted in three distinct decades. Additionally, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Usher, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera share the same accolade.

Additionally, the song is Carey's 10th track to top the charts for three weeks, another Billboard record. "One Sweet Day," "We Belong Together," and "Fantasy" are among her previous releases to hold the position.

The 2020 honor extends yet another Carey record, this one for years with a number one entry. Carey has scored a number one entry in sixteen different years. This includes ten straight years between 1990 and 2000, 2005, 2006, 2008, and now the past two years. The closest artists to Mariah in these terms are Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. The trio each has ten years' worth of entries.
