Lupe Fiasco Launches Non-Profit For Entrepreneurs In Underserved Communities

In 2015, Lupe Fiasco has remained as outspoken and sharp as ever through music and long-form essays that have tackled everything from ghostwriting in hip-hop to police brutality in our communities. This week he's lending his name and weight to yet another initiative, partnering with Di-Ann Eisnor to launch Neighborhood Start Funda non-profit that seeks empower ideas from those that may be otherwise silenced due to mere geography. The program is city-specific, beginning its campaign in Brooklyn's own Brownsville, with aspirations of expanding to across the globe. The NPO will provide workshops, mentoring and most importantly, funding to help elevate the minds and trajectories of underserved communities, nurturing innovations from some of the cities you'd least expect flourish. As of right now, the organization is accepting submissions through October 30th, at which point a panel of six judges will decide which will get their shot to pitch in-person, granting the winner $5,000 to develop prototypes and the access one would need to do so. It's a bold new program that could very well revolutionize the start-up game from the ground up. Hit the link below to get more information on Lupe Fiasco and Di-Ann Eisnor's new program and give it up for the duo, effecting real, measurable change where it's needed most.
