Luke Cage Meets Method Man In One Final Netflix Trailer

Luke Cage

This Friday finally marks the premiere of the highly anticipated Luke Cage series on Netflix. So it's only appropriate that one final trailer is dropped before the show's big debut.

As the last trailer this two and a half minute video really hones in on the battle for Harlem, as Luke Cage fights against adversary and villain Cottonmouth, and his desire to control the New York City neighborhood. We see a number of other characters make an appearance, including Claire Temple. If you've been keeping up with fellow Marvel / Netflix series Daredevil and Jessica Jones, you'll know why Temple's presence in Luke Cage is not only cool but important, considering that she's been the only character to exist and be seen in all three series so far.

As always the trailer is accompanied by some great music, this time being Nas' "Made You Look," as Luke Cage describes how he's going to take down Cottonmouth. "I'm gonna take his rooks, his knights, his queen," he says, with each scene show complimenting the superhero's declaration.

As we've written about before music will be an integral part of the series. "One of the things I was explaining is the speed of hip-hop," showrunner Cheo Hodari Cokersays in a video about the music of Luke Cage. "It happens at the speed of thought so if you really ran into Luke, and all of a sudden — boom, there's going to be a beat. That's all it takes."

So it's cool to see the show not only have great music, but feature guest appearances by artists too. Case in point? Right at the very end of the trailer Luke Cage runs into Method Man, where the two share a moment of admiration before switching hoodies. If only Luke Cage had told him "Hey, I was listening to the Wu-Tang Clan as I was beating up a few dudes a few nights ago," that would make the scene even better.

Check out the clip below and remember, Luke Cage drops on September 30.
