Little Simz Teases 'Stillness in Wonderland' With "Poison Ivy" Cut
It is safe to say that Little Simz had a pretty bomb ass 2016. She managed to impact the game with her own North American tour, followed that up with an impressive duet beside Kehlani and today, dropped the release date for her album Stillness in Wonderland with an extra tidbit: a new song.
Titled “Poison Ivy,” the 22-year-old London MC brings her signature intense delivery to producer SHE‘s bombastic drums, hazy guitar licks as we join them both on an emotional audio-journey. A song laden with ferocity and actualization, Simz, an artist better known as Simbi Ajikawo, knows that the relationship isn’t good for her or her health.
On the edge, the reverb-laden cut enhances her solid vocals and proves to be more rhythmic and harmonic than a detailed expression from her diary. It is definitely a cut that is worth playing on repeat with the lesson being if you’re in a toxic relationship with someone then it is important to find relief. Either way, “Poison Ivy,” is a healthy indicator that 2017 will be full of surprises from Little Simz and we’re going to be excited by the beauty that comes out of it.
Listen to “Poison Ivy” below, as Stillness in Wonderland will be out Dec. 16 via Age 101.
