Legal Team For Megan Thee Stallion Is Considering Taking Legal Action Against Bloggers

The legal team for Megan Thee Stallion is prepared to take legal action against bloggers who spread misinformation during Tory Lanez's trial.

The legal team for Megan Thee Stallion is exploring their options to combat misinformation spread by bloggers during Tory Lanez's trial. A new NBC News report details how Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete, has faced a wave of criticism and victim-blaming during the trial, with bloggers partially to blame for misogynoir and abusive attacks on social media.

“It’s been very clear, as I’ve seen entertainment and gossip spaces commenting on the case, that she has been set up as someone who is out for herself, lying, and problematic in all these ways,” Catherine Knight Steele, a communications professor at the University of Maryland, told NBC News. “This points to the way that mis- and disinformation, and misogynoir, is trafficked because of its profitability, even in the Black community. It’s profitable for these sites to traffic in the most vile stereotypes about Black women.”

Now, as Lanez's assault trial is set to conclude, Pete’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, says they are “exploring all legal options” against bloggers who shared misinformation about Pete as the aggressor during the July 12, 2020 shooting. One social media personality and blogger named in the NBC News report is Milagro Gramz, whose been present during the trial. Back in May, Gramz posted an LAPD report in which a doctor "confirmed" that Pete's foot injuries were due to "stepping on glass," although the report was written before the doctor discovered bullet fragments in the artist's feet.

“On my end, everything is not going to be something that was intended to be a factual statement,” Gramz said. “It might have a comedic effect.”

Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee has also been accused of publicizing bias coverage of the case. Megan’s other lawyer, Jordan Siev, said that half a dozen of Gramz’s tweets on were reported Megan’s behalf. Twitter ultimately confirmed that Gramz had violated its policies and locked her account for 11 hours.

Also named in the report is Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee, who's been accused of providing biased coverage of the case, once alleging on his show earlier this year that Pete was "drunk as hell and super aggressive" during the incident.

“I’ve always struggled with the way she’s been treated,” Lee told NBC News. “While I don’t believe it’s fair to say Tory’s automatically guilty, I also don’t believe it’s fair to call a woman who says she was shot by a man a ‘liar.’”
