Larry Wilmore Breaks Bread w/ Baltimore Gang Members, Discusses Their Truce & Steps Towards Peace

Over the past week, despite his program's satirical spin, Larry Wilmore has emerged as one of the most thoughtful critics of the media's coverage of Baltimore's uprising in the wake of Freddie Gray's murder. He's managed to put in perspective how a mother's word (and hand) will quell even the most rebellious of teen and helped the air on Baltimore's gangs, originally thought to have united in order to take out the police opposition in the protests for the murder of Freddie Gray, but revealed to have actually come together in an effort to keep the peace.

But who better to speak on behalf of those Bloods, Crips and BGF members than the men themselves? In a gesture of good will, Wilmore took a trip down to Charm City to post up in Double T Diner with five members of those gangs and break bread (specifically in the form of pie) with this criminally misunderstood initiative taken on by the city's true protectors. In this short, but hilarious, 5-minute segment, Wilmore keeps things light, but spares no opportunity to let the crew explain the nature of the truce, whether it's for good or just the time being and what the next steps are. You can watch it all unfold on The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore below.
