Kool & Kass - "Fresh Prince" + "Pleasance (WDGAF)" [dirs. Eightsixfourth + ESNAF]
Kool A.D. and Kassa Overall aka Kool & Kass are back today with videos for "Fresh Prince" and "Pleasance (WDGAF)" - standout tracks from their Peaceful Solutions mixtape, which dropped yesterday. Kool & Kass describe the project as a "A Syncretic supersoul that harnesses the magnanimity of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans through raps that merely sound like the English language but are in fact both astral and southern hemispheric in spirit and rhythmic nature." Try saying that three times fast. "Fresh Prince" is directed by Eightsixfourth and largely informed by the popular 90s sitcom for which it is named. "Pleasance (WDGAF)" - their lead single - is directed by ESNAF and comes off a bit more seriously than the aforementioned clip. The footage features the MCs in a series of scenes that play like a living installation driven by the universal markers of ruggedness and rebellion; guns and camo being the most prominent. This is juxtaposed by the action of the video, which - ice grills aside - is generally pretty mundane. On the off-chance you happen to be wondering about their stylistic approach, it pays to keep in mind that they don't GAF at all. Check the videos below.
