Kid Cudi may not be on G.O.O.D. Music anymore, but he and Kanye West share common ground with their frustration with music streaming.
On Saturday, Kanye had a brief Twitter rant where he voiced upset about streaming services making certain albums exclusive to their own platforms to get more users. He pleaded for Apple to complete the acquisition of Tidal so that the two services could stop battling and give all of the fans access to all music at once.
“Fuck all this dick swinging contest. We all gon be dead in 100 years. Let the kids have the music,” Kanye tweeted.
Cudi retweeted Kanye’s tweet calling for a meeting of the streaming execs, and gave his own thoughts on the issue.
“This is why the game is fucked up. All this shit is wack. Bunch of rich guys on a power trip. This shit aint about music. Never has. The rich just wanna get richer. Spare me ?,” Cudi tweeted. “The art is lost.”
As previously reported, rumors circulated in late June that Apple was in exploratory talks to acquire Tidal. There have been no updates on the potential deal since then.
