The 19-year-old was found dead at the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in September 2017.

The premiere episode of a new MTV docuseries True Life: Crime will investigate the death of Kenneka Jenkins who was 19 years old.

Jenkins mysteriously passed at the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel back in 2017 in Rosemont, Illionois. Since then her family has questioned her passing after she was found dead in a walk-in freezer. The episode titled “Tragic Accident or Calculated Murder” features former WGN-AM 720 news anchor Dometi Pongo who will be leading the investigation throughout the episode.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Cook County’s medical examiner declared Jenkins died of hypothermia. Additionally, alcohol intoxication and a drug used to test epilepsy and migraines were “significant contributing factors.” Pongo will reportedly be speaking with people close to Kenneka who doubted that she stumbled into a freezer the evening of her death.

Before she was discovered her family had begun an intense 24 hour search once she went missing at a friend’s birthday party at the Illinois hotel. As the case heightened the Rosemont Police Department released a troubling surveillance video showing Jenkins wandering the halls of the hotel.  Last year Jenkins’ family filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the hotel.

A description for the episode reads:

"Hours after going on Facebook live, 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins vanished from a birthday party at a hotel in Chicago. The next day, her body was finally found in a hotel freezer. The investigation incited a firestorm as young people all over the country scoured social media for answers. What happened to Kenneka Jenkins?"

The “True Life Crime” episode, will air at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8 on MTV.
