Kendrick Lamar Gives New Rapid-Fire Interview For Vevo

Kendrick Lamar has a great many things to celebrate right about now. The visionary MC is still (perhaps arguably) on top of the hip-hop world thanks to To Pimp A Butterfly, hit #1 on the Billboard charts thanks to his Taylor Swift collaboration (we can't knock it), recently exchanged ideas and inspiration with grade schoolers and, to top it all off, celebrated his birthday Wednesday. Netting the first interview of Lamar's 28th year, Vevo put him in the hot seat yesterday for one of their patented 60 second, rapid-fire interviews. K dot fielded the questions with ease--but then, what else could we expect from an MC's whose mind and flow can function at rates that seem to break the sonic barrier.

Ever the selfless one, Lamar starts off the lightning round by admitting he prefers the letter "u" to "i." From there, we learn that the MC-narrator of "You Ain't Gotta Lie" is speaking to himself. Old school heads will be delighted to learn that Lamar prefers P-Funk to G-funk (as well as "Uptown Funk"), and we're told by Lamar that the new track he's most excited to perform live is "Wesley's Theory." There's no reason to spoil the whole interview for you, though, so watch it below and then treat yourself to a much, much longer-form Kendrick think session, courtesy of Okayplayer's own behind-the-scenes feature on To Pimp A Butterfly.
