Kendrick Lamar just dropped the anti - "i" with a fierce new cut "The Blacker The Berry" produced by Boi-1da and Terrace Martin. This one goes deeper and darker than anything we've heard from K Dot, channelling all of the frustration derived from the tragedies of Ferguson, Staten Island and the countless slain fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers at the hands of our nation's police force. But Kendrick goes even further than police brutality. Add a stormy, almost industrial sounding score from Martin and Boi-1da and you've got one heavy new cut from the King that should bring a hush to those that thought of "i" as too soft, or god forbid too positive for such a sharp tongue. Social justice, self-love and accountability for one self permeate the words of this heated war cry, leading at least a few Okayplayers to assume this good kid mAAd city follow-up might not be the commercial rap album some of y'all have him pegged for. Suppose we'll see though.
