Kendrick Lamar has been making his way cross-country on his "Kunta's Groove Sessions" tour, performing the unforgettable opus that is To Pimp A Butterfly, along with plenty of back catalog favorites. And while the MC has been unfailingly gracious and down-to-earth in interviews, Lamar upped the gratitude grade during a set break at New York City's Terminal 5 earlier this month, taking time out to let fans know just how much he appreciates and feeds off of their support.

"May day 1 motherfucking fans right in this building one time," Lamar hollered as his band kept a smoother interlude roving. "I ain't been this intimate in a long time."

"To Pimp A Butterfly. People been saying a lot about this album... that's cool. But also, real shit, making this motherfucking album was therapy. Not only for you, but for me." Lamar assured the crowd that within six months of his 2012 LP good kid, m.A.A.d city being released, life completely changed for himand it wasn't necessarily easy. But through it all, the fans were there, and with a renewed energy Lamar promised, "This shit belongs to you and only you!" He was met with a cascade of applause.

Kendrick continued, "Some shit that yall can feel whether you insecure, vulnerable, mad, happy, angry, sad. You pop this motherfucking tape in, and you love and you live this shit."
