Kendrick Lamar Soars In The Stunning, High-Flying Video For “Alright”

Kendrick Lamar just gave us what we’ve all been waiting for; the official video treatment for To Pimp A Butterfly‘s certified turn-up anthem “Alright.” But it’s also so much more than that. To start, the video commences with a never-heard interlude featuring Thundercat‘s floaty vocals and low-end leading the way as a squad of cops usher him and fellow TDE heavyweights Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock on their shoulders in a tire-less hoopty. Then the track drops with all of its might, as Kendrick flies high above the city’s eye-level, ascending like the rap-game superhero we’ve long known him to be, as a legion riotously parties in the streets. And just as we begin to assume that his float will remain perpetual, K Dot perches himself upon a light-post (an image captured by many in the filming of the clip months ago) only to be shot down by 5-0. That’s where I’ll leave it, so that you can bear witness to this stunning and powerful visual in all of its glory. Watch as Kendrick Lamar ascends to somehow even greater heights in the video for “Alright” down below and cop To Pimp A Butterfly on iTunes today.
