Following his most proligic and visible year to date, Karriem Riggins is gearing up to grace you with another solo outing in 2017, tentatively-titled The Headnod Suite. Today he shares what could be a glimpse of what’s to come with the short and sweet new instrumental “Bahia Dreamin.” Leaning on his signature swing and surgical chop style, Riggins crafts a breezy two-minute gem that’s sure to get instant replay value upon first ear, surging with bossa rhythms and infinite cool.
Weeks back, Riggins sat with us for an interview where he discussed the new project as one that’s “very beat-driven” and arrving within the next couple of months. He also revealed that there’s not only another solo record en route, but nine album’s worth of collaborative material with Madlib stashed away, on top of a Black America Again sequel. So yeah, there’s a lot of gears in motion right now, and no, it doesn’t appear he’s getting much rest these days. Hear a new joint from Karriem Riggins down below and revisit our feature for more on what’s to come.
