Kanye West's 'The Life of Pablo' is The First-Ever Stream-Only Album To Go Platinum

Kanye West has set another historic music milestone. His seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo has become the first-ever-stream-only album to go platinum. According to Pitchfork, the album has been streamed over three billion times and was also the very first cloud-exclusive album to top the Billboard 200 chart.

West released the album via TIDAL on February 14th of 2016  following the album's premiere at a Fashion Week event for his Yeezy line. A work-in-progress project that would be updated with a new mix or track (ie "Saint Pablo") on an almost weekly basis, Pablo is a singular album roll-out every bit as chaotic as the album itself. Pablo is also the seventh consecutive solo Kanye album to go platinum, which is likely its own title, though that hasn't been confirmed at the time of publishing.

It's also said that the album was pirated nearly half a million times in the week following its release, though the metrics on that, and, well, anything stream related, aren't terribly clear. In any case, Kanye's win-streak appears to still be in full-effect, regardless of whether you prefer the West of old or new.
