Kanye West Taps Rick Rubin as 'Yeezus' Executive Producer, Shoots Viral Video + more

As Kanye West gears up for the June 18th release of his highly-anticipated Yeezus album drop, it is clear that #YeezySeason is a real thing, and us mortals are all knee-deep in the middle of it. Sometime around his unsurprisingly polarizing headline performance at NYC's Governor's Ball festival this weekend (business as usual for 'Ye), the emcee/producer reportedly shot an American Psycho-themed video that he plans to go viral with starring Scott Disick (Kourtney Kardashian's husband) and Jonathan Cheban, choosing once again to forgo the traditional route for releasing new material in favor of a more "DIY" aesthetic. The video, expected to drop later this week, sounds like it will fit right in with the guerilla-style marketing he employed for the premiere of his "New Slaves" video a few weeks ago that took place on the sides of buildings in 66 cities around the world.

But of course, this being #YeezySeason and all, there's more. While Kanye gave his now-requisite performance rant in New York this weekend, Hudson Mohawke played an unreleased Kanye track during his set across the pond at the UK's Parklife Festival - it's unconfirmed whether or not the track will appear on Yeezus, but knowing Kanye we're sure there are a few more surprises waiting for us before June 18th.

Finally, in a major last-minute announcement, legendary producer Rick Rubin has been tapped by Kanye for executive duties on Yeezus, with additional tracks being added as recently as last week. With little more than a week before the release date, it's hard to say what changes will be made before the drop, but with Rubin on deck it's sure to make an impact. Watch HudMo's possible premiere of new Kanye below, and stay tuned for more Yeezus news as the #YeezySeason storm looms larger.
