A still from Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby

Just before the New Year, Jeymes Samuel AKA The Bullitts leaked some intriguing details about yet another cinematic-musical project he has up his sleeve (not the sleeve that his debut film They Die By Dawn or a Bullitts LP featuring Yasiin Bey and Jay Electronica is up. The other sleeve). The new project just happend to be a little thing called The Great Gatsby. Directed by Baz Luhrmann of Moulin Rouge fame and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, the film--based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic jazz age novel--has already generated much speculation about its soundtrack following the inclusion of "No Church From The Wild" off Watch The Throne in the official trailer. Craig Armstrong has been credited with the score but details are few and other names floated around the project as contributors include Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and even Prince. Samuel appears to have confirmed at least one of those participants when he tweeted out:

"Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!"

Good news in and of itself, made even more intriguing by his specific mention of 'the score' as opposed to an individual song for the soundtrack--stay tuned for more as the plot develops.
