Janelle Monáe to Induct Janet Jackson into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Janelle Monáe has been announced as the presenter for Janet Jackson‘s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction.

The Rock Hall issued a statement describing the legend as someone who fearlessly tackled subjects of “poverty, race relations, and drug use” within her music and “explored social issues, themes of empowerment and self-confidence, and influenced generations with her stylized music videos with innovative choreography.”

Some say the induction was long overdue, as this was Jackson’s third nomination.

More details of the artists slated to speak at the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been revealed. Other speakers at this year’s ceremony include David Byrne (for Radiohead), Trent Reznor (for The Cure), Harry Styles (for Stevie Nicks), Duran Duran’s John Taylor and Simon Le Bon (for Roxy Music), Queen’s Brian May (for Def Leppard), and the Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs (for the Zombies).

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on March 29.
