Ja Rule Is Apparently Planning Another Festival After the Fyre Fest Fiasco

“[Fyre Fest] is the most iconic festival that never was.”

Ja Rule is up to something.

Though he was one of the co-founders of Fyre Festival—alongside currently incarcerated Billy McFarland—the rapper has continued to deny liability involving the disastrous aftermath. But now, he’s apparently planning another music festival.

In an interview with TMZ Thursday, he talked about the reception of the festival, saying, “It’s not funny to me, man,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking to me. It was something that I really, really wanted to be special and amazing and it just didn’t turn out that way. But, you know, in the midst of chaos there’s opportunity. So I’m working on a lot of new things. I got my new platform Iconn.”

After the airing of two new Hulu and Netflix documentaries about the making and mayhem of the festival, earlier this month Ja began promoting an app called ICONN that’s strikingly similar to the Fyre app.

In the interview, he noted, “It is kinda similar to what the app was but you gotta understand the app was separate from the festival.”

But when asked about the possibility of a Fyre Festival part two, Ja hinted that he’s seeking to take Iconn in that direction, saying, “[Fyre Fest] is the most iconic festival that never was, so I have plans to create the Iconnic music fest. But you ain’t hear it from me.”

Ja said he had not watched either doc. “I haven’t watched ’em yet,” he said at LAX. “They’re very popular, they’re very popular. Maybe one day. I lived it, man. I ain’t gotta watch it.”
