J. Cole's '4 Your Eyez Only' Debuts at No. 1 With Massive Opening Week Sales

J. Cole's Announces Plans To Take A Break From Live Performances

Say what you will about J. Cole, the North Carolina rapper just scored his fourth straight No. 1 debut with a massive opening week for 4 Your Eyez OnlyBillboard reports that Cole's latest has sold 492,000 equivalent copies in its first week (363,000 in traditional sales and 118,000 in album equivalent streams,) trailing only Drake's VIEWS and Beyonce's Lemonade for highest-selling opening week.

For Cole, it marks his fourth straight No. 1 debut (with each album opening with larger first-week sales than the last) and another march towards platinum sans vocal features (though the production credits reveal musical contributions from The Social Experiment's Nico Segal, The Internet's Steve Lacy and Chargaux amongst others.) So it looks he might just do it again, you know, no features and all. Time will tell, but at this rate it's almost guaranteed. If you've yet to hear J. Cole's new album, you can stream 4 Your Eyez Only on Spotify or pick up a copy on iTunes today.

Wouldn't be too big a jump to expect something like a tour to be announced in the weeks and months ahead. So be sure to keep an eye out for that. There's also the curious case of that M.I.A. J. Cole x Kendrick Lamar album. But your guess is as good as ours on that one.
