Idris Elba is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming movie The Harder They Fall, produced by Jay-Z. According to Variety, the film will also star Jonathan Majors, additional producers include James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender.
The Western movie will tell the story of Nat Love (Majors) who finds out that the man (Elba) who killed his parents is slated to be released from prison. Variety reports, he “decides to reunite with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge.”
Jeymes Samuel will make his feature directorial debut for The Harder They Fall. He previously worked alongside Jay-Z on The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Sources have shared that the movie will follow a Great Gatsby approach when incorporating music.
Most recently Majors starred in the critically acclaimed film The Last Black Man in San Francisco and earned a Gotham Award nomination. The A24 movie also won the grand jury prize at Sundance, according to Variety. Elba co-starred with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in Hobbs & Shaw which raked in over $750 million worldwide.
