There’s no one quite like Timothy Zachary Mosley.

Better known around the globe as the “Emperor of Sound,” Timbaland, the Norfolk, Virginia born-and-bred producer is still one of the most sought-after beat makers in hip-hop and R&B music today. A four-time Grammy Award winner, a three-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year winner and production credits for some of the greatest acts in the entertainment biz — Timbaland has cultivated a sound that isn’t like anyone else.

His unique production style merges hip-hop with R&B music, as Timbaland takes ambient noises, electronic methods and non-sample-based approaches and blurs the lines between numerous genres. Timbo the King has since jumped into the television game by becoming the de facto producer behind Fox’s juggernaut hit Empire and experienced another level of success. Among all of his production work—whether on his solo projects or doing work for others—Timbaland still pushes the culture forward by experimenting with new ideas.

With today being Timbaland’s 44th birthday, the man who helped give Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Madonna, Rihanna and OneRepublic their most monstrous hits gets the special treatment by us as we look back over his greatest beats ever produced.
