‘Hamilton’s Renée Elise Goldsberry Says Peace To Star In Netflix Sci-Fi Drama ‘Altered Carbon’

Hamilton, the smash Broadway musical that has received near universal acclaim is going through some changes. The play’s creator and Tony Award-winner Lin Manuel-Miranda has left the role of the titular character Alexander Hamilton for a change of pace and to dive into other creative endeavors. This past Saturday saw the last performance of Miranda as Hamilton. Or maybe not, word has went around that he may reprise the role for some shows. It’s probably going to be a while before that happens, seeing that Miranda chopped his hair off. But that’s not the only cast change the show is facing. Daveed Diggs, who plays Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette is also slated to leave. A replacement has yet to be announced. Lesile Odom Jr. who played the role of Aaron Burr was replaced by Brandon Victor Dixon and Lexie Lawson will take over for Phillipa Soo as Eliza Schuyler.

Renée Elise Goldsberry who played the sister in law of Alexander Hamilton, Angelica Schuyler will also be leaving the show. Like I said, a lot of changes. The silver lining? Goldsberry has joined on as a lead character in a new Netflix produced show. The date of Renée Elise Goldsberry’s departure, who is also a Tony Award winner, has yet to be announced. The show will be called Altered Carbon. The premise: In the distant future people’s minds can be taken digitized and given to another person/body. Which i’m pretty sure is going to end very badly for the lower rungs of that society but will make for fantastic TV (if you can call it that since it’s on Netflix). The show is based on a novel by Richard Mogan. Goldsberry will play Quellcrist Falconer, a master strategist, leader in the revolution, and possessor of a dope ass name. So get ready fans of sci-fi, this one sounds like it’s going to be good.
