DJ Greg Street digs into the vaults in the wake of the killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling to drop the rap anthem “I Am Somebody.” The track inspired by Reverend Jessie Jackson‘s familiar empowerment chant, speaks to the racial disparities that have continued to divide the American South since the Civil Rights Movement. Big K.R.I.T. and B.o.B. lead the charge, lending their country grammar and respective life experiences to the mix. The pair trade bars on the powerful track punctuated by Akon‘s signature vocal and a loop of Jackson’s booming voice on the hook. Check the track below to listen to “I Am Somebody.”
