Spike Lee, Q-Tip, Grandmaster Flash & More Announce that NYC Will Host the Grammys Again

This year is the 60th anniversary of the Grammys. To celebrate the occasion, the Recording Academy will be bringing the Grammy awards back to New York City.

January 18, 2018, Madison Square Garden will host the 2018 Grammys.

This is a pretty big deal. The Grammys haven’t been at Madison Square Garden since 2003, and that was a one-year occasion. Since 1999, the awards have almost exclusively been at the Staples Center in LA. (The exception being that one year.)

To announce the news, the Grammy also put out a new ad created by Spike Lee called“NY Stories.” It features Lee, Q-Tip, Grandmaster Flash, and a number of other New York city legends taking us on a tour of the city. The video features a vast number of NYC landmarks, from the Apollo Theater to Murry Bergtraum High School — where A Tribe Called Quest attended — to Marcy projects.
