Governors Ball 2016: See Action Bronson, Matt and Kim, More Tear Down Day 1

Day one of Governors Ball 2016 is in the books, and attendees (and TV viewers) have already seen dozens of their favorite artists grace the festival's four stages.

Performances started around noon at Randall's Island Park on Friday, and continued late into the night. Scroll through the gallery above for photos of sets by Action Bronson, Big Grams (the trio of Big Boi and Phantogram), Matt and Kim, Kele Okereke, Father John Misty, Bloc Party and The Strokes.

Matt and Kim announced the performance would be one of their two shows in New York City in 2016, and shot audience footage for a music video while crowd surfing and throwing balloons and confetti during their set. Bloc Party inspired a mosh pit with songs from their Silent Alarm debut,  and Robyn used her set to showcase dance remixes of key songs from her career, done some of her favorite artists in dance music. Action Bronson, Compton rapper Boogie, and Jaime XX were other highlights from Friday's collection of performances.

Other artists from day one of the festival included Robyn, Beck, Jamie XX, Duke Damont, Big Grams, Bob Moses, Of Monsters and Men, Elle King and others.

The rest of the weekend has much more in store. Saturday's lineup will include De La Soul, Thundercat, Haim, Mac Miller, and Miguel, along with performances by M83, Haim, Purity Ring, The Killers, and Miike Snow. Sunday will close out the festival with Kanye West, Vic Mensa, Joey Bada$$, Gary Clark Jr., Vince Staples, Vic Mensa and more.
