The Entire Rolling Stone Magazine Archives Are Now Accessible On Google Play

It's a great day for history-minded music heads around the world. Google Play, the online audio/video streaming service that keeps steadily gaining ground, will soon feature the entire back catalog of Rolling Stone magazine. That means all of RS's top-tier music criticism, longform features, political reporting and cultural exposés will be soon be at users' digital fingertips.

The new partnership with Google marks the first time that the magazine has opened up all of its back catalog, dating back to its first issues in 1967. According to a company press release, both the Android and iOS Google Play Newsstand apps will now offer the magazine's content, including all the legendary pieces from Hunter S. Thompson. The move isn't entirely a throwback gesture, either--new articles published in Rolling Stone will become available regularly to Google Play users.

For those hoping to read the newly-freed archives on a slightly larger screen, Rolling Stone's website has also unveiled Coverwall, a dazzling new way of browsing back issues based on their cover images, as well as reading longer pieces and enjoying featured photographs in high resolution. This means that you'll no need to visit your local library to peruse those reviews of Organix, Do You Want More?!!!??! and Illadelph Halflife.
