DuBois is most known for playing the role of Wilona Woods on Good Times.

Ja’Net DuBois a former star of Good Times has reportedly passed at 74. 

According to TMZ, DuBois passed in her sleep unexpectedly. She’s known for playing the role of Wilona Woods on Good Times. TMZ reports it was unclear who discovered the star’s body on Tuesday morning. Additionally, she wasn’t known to be dealing with any illnesses or specific ailments recently. She in fact appeared to be in good health to those who were close to her, she also attended a fan meetup a few weeks back. 

DuBois started her career in theaters in the ‘60s, she starred alongside Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. in Broadway’s Golden Boy. The Sun reports that when she starred in the daytime show, Love of Life that she became the first Black woman to become a regular cast member. While Good Times was one of her most renowned roles, DuBois sang and co-wrote the theme song for The Jefferson’s “Movin’ On Up.” 

Throughout her career she won two Emmys in addition to a Peabody Award for her voice-over work on a CBS animated movie, J.T. Additionally, she appeared in classic films like I’m Gonna Get You Sucka and would go on to star in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. During her career, she made appearances in popular sitcoms including Martin, The Wayans Bro., and Sister, Sister. 

Ja’Net is survived by three children.
