French Montana walked back his comment in support of R. Kelly.

After performing at L.A. Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys game on Saturday, the Bronx rapper initially told TMZ. “They don’t let nobody have their legendary moments,” adding “I feel like they did Michael Jackson like that. They did R. Kelly like that. All the greats went down like that.” He continued, “Let somebody enjoy their legacy,” and pointing out that the controversial singer was acquitted in his 2008 trial for child pornography.

Montana concluded, “Whatever happened, happened.”

On Sunday, Montana walked back his statements and tweeted, "My heart is with the victims. I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child [molesters] and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them."

R. Kelly's long history of alleged sexual abuse recently piqued public attention with the airing of Lifetime's docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly.

Last week, The singer's attorney, Steve Greenberg, told CNN that his Kelly "has done nothing wrong."
