The coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the entertainment industry. On Monday afternoon, Bronx rapper Fred the Godson took to Twitter to announce that he’s receiving treatment for the virus.
“I’m in here with this Covid-19 shit,” he tweeted, along with a picture of him wearing a ventilator. “Please keep me in y’all prayers! #GodIsGreat.”
Fellow Bronx native Tony Sunshine shared his condolences, saying the two have unfinished business to attend to. “We must have more [than] a few unheard joints in somebody’s hard drive,” he wrote. “But we have something dropping for the people in a few days anyway #Revalution love you, my brother. Get well soon.”
Numerous celebrities have tested positive for the virus in the last month. Actor Tom Hanks, as well as Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant. Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert’s diagnoses led to the NBA suspending its season indefinitely. Houston rappers Slim Thug and Scarface both revealed their diagnoses in the past few weeks.
In the meantime, the concert and nightlife circuits have come to a screeching halt. New York governor Andrew Cuomo has increased the maximum fines for violating social distancing rules. Violators can now be fined up to $1000. Cuomo has extended the city-wide pause (schools and non-essential businesses) until April 29.
Fred dropped two projects last year, Gorilla Glue and God Level.
