Fishbone is back! The band’s 3 year moratorium on new material ended shortly after their main stage Coachella performance with the announcement of their new EP— Intrinsically Intertwined. And luckily we won’t have to wait long: the album will be available for digital download starting on April 22nd.
The upcoming EP however is just one smaller part in the larger story of Fishbone. After jumpstarting the Southern California ska scene, the band grew to tour “worldwide with such bands as the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Roots, Les Claypool/Primus, Fela Kuti, George Clinton and The Dead Kennedys.”And while they still tour often–4 performances in April alone– the same can’t be said for recording new material. After 2011’s Crazy Glue, the band has been starving their loyal fan base. They’re not cruel. They’ve given them bits and pieces to survive on. 2012 brought a live album, Live At The Independent, and 2013 came with a new single– “Whipper Snapper.” But as the 22nd approaches, Fishbone’s fans– both the casual and the cult– will be eagerly anticipating new songs– a whole EP’s worth.
