Ahead of her return to The Soul Train Awards this weekend, Erykah Badu is out on the process circuit stirring up positivity. Monday morning we woke up to an impromptu performance from Miss E. Badu for The New York Times, where she lined up with Cory Henry and the Rashad Smith to perform “On & On” and “Time’s A Wastin’.” Yesterday she skipped the musical segments and went straight to the brain-jewel-dropping on Ebro In the Morning, tuning-fork perfectly placed at her septum.

They discuss her children and their budding “woke-ness,” new and future projects (Badu claiming to always be working on her never-rushed follow-up to 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two) and sending a particularly-praiseful salute to D.R.A.M., who she recently collaborated with on his standout album cut “WiFi,” dubbing him “the lovechild of Ol Dirty Bastard, George Clinton and D’Angelo.” If it sounds like a tall order, maybe you just haven’t heard the two of them connect via slow-burner.
