“I Ain’t Gonna Out Rap The Muthaf**ka”: Nick Cannon Recalls Wanting To Fight Eminem Over Mariah Carey Comments

Nick Cannon had even suggested that him and Eminem set up a boxing match for charity.

Although Nick Cannon is fine with responding to Eminem‘s jabs at him with his own diss tracks, he once wanted to fight the Detroit rapper for comments he made about his ex-wife, Mariah Carey.

During an appearance on VladTV, Cannon offered some background on Eminem’s diss at him from the Fat Joe single, “Lord Above,” where Em rapped: “Tried to tell him this chick’s a nutjob ‘fore he got his jewels clipped / Almost got my caboose kicked.”

“I went lookin’ for that muthafucka,” Cannon said. “I went to Detroit. He don’t live in Detroit. He don’t live nowhere near 7th or 8th mile. He lives in Michigan and rightly so. He’s supposed to come up. I believe it was the BET Awards. Like I said, at the time I was managed by Chris Lightly, musically at the time, so was Mariah, Chris was managing 50 and he was talking to Paul [Rosenberg] all the time…this is a decade ago.”

“Everybody knew how serious I was. I was there to defend my wife,” he continued. “I ain’t give a fuck about no lyrics…you said some disrespectful shit about my wife and I’m going to beat your ass. That was my mentality in 2009…whatever year that was.”

Cannon then shared that he tried to set up a charity boxing match between him and Eminem, after learning he was training for a role in the film Southpaw. (That role eventually went to Jake Gyllenhaal.)

“Real talk…I wanted to match whatever energy he’s on,” he said. “I know I ain’t gonna out rap the muthafucka but I was like, ‘Yo, if you got a problem with me and my wife, talking that shit’…you gotta be able to deal with the consequences that come with your mouth. Simple as that.”
