Premiere: Watch Emily King Fly High w/ “Good Friend” Live And Direct In LA

Following the arrival of her junior album, The Switch, Emily King‘s ascent has been nothing short of spectacular. The 2015 release, championed as one of the year’s superlative offerings, wielded an uncanny mosh of Motown’s eternal soul, spruced up with touches of organix, bewitching balladry and a success by committee ethos that leaps off the record and on to the stage with ease.

Which brings us to our next point: King and her air-tight ensemble (some of NYC’s finest, including Jaime Woods, Jeremy Most, Jack Deboe and more) have just announced a sprawling list of new tour dates (listed below) for you to catch the vibe live and direct. And to get your warmed-up for those high-flying live sets, we’ve been graced with the premiere of an all-pro performance of The Switch standout “Good Friend” pristinely captured at West Hollywood’s Troubadour just a few months back, where King and her crew blaze through the funk-fueled arrangement with James Brown-like poise. You can watch Emily King & Co. bring “Good Friend” to life down below, just be sure that you’ve got her stop at your local bandstand marked off on the calendar. You simply won’t want to miss it.

Grab a copy of The Switch on iTunes today.
