Funkadelic rejoined the conversation last week with the arrival of Childish Gambino's "Awaken, My Love!" (though they never really left the discussion for heads in the first place.) Now just a few days following that album's release, Tidal Waves Music is announcing the first-ever vinyl pressing of a rare and early live Funkadelic performance circa 1971.

With the full original line-up in tow, the recording -- taken from the soundboard master tapes -- offers a rare glimpse at the band's storied early-seventies live shows that made Funkadelic a singular force in music, led by the indominable George Clinton, as well as fallen funkateers, Bernie Worrell and Eddie Hazel. This one was captured in Rodchester, MI, just outside of Clinton's adopted Detroit home. The album will begin shipping as a 2xLP on January 6th, with pre-order currently underway via Light In The Attic.
