Earl Sweatshirt Links w/ Visionary Director Hiro Murai On The Deeply Unsettling Clip For “Grief”

Earl Sweatshirt dropped a bomb on us last night, revealing that he’d be snatching up Kendrick Lamar‘s newly freed March 23rd album release slot as his own, dropping his Doris follow-up I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside on that date. The surprise announcement of the album was paired with a brooding new cut in “Grief,” the sonic sentiments of which will have you experiencing much more than just that. While the track feels like a thoughtful analysis of the effects of celebrity, there’s certainly something more lonesome at work here. Grief or gloom, Earl’s clearly going through some shit, which may or may not have to d0 with the fact that Sony has apparently butchered the roll-out of the record (according to his own Twitter lament) which is oddly enough, precisely what landed him the March 23rd date in the first place, as Lamar was subject to the same administrative screw-up. In any case, we’ll have Earl Sweatshirt’s new album I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside sooner than we had all once imagined, with preorders already being taken on iTunes. Watch his wholly spooked Hiro Murai-directed clip for “Grief” below.
