Dungeon Family's 'Even In Darkness' Celebrates 15 Years w/ White-Out Vinyl Reissue
Over the last 20 years, it's arguable that no collective has contributed more to the current palette and form of hip-hop than Dungeon Family. A motley crew of eccentrics that established itself in a modest (at best) Atlanta studio that operated out of producer Rico Wade's basement, DF and its many moving musical parts -- production team Organized Noize, OutKast, Killer Mike and Goodie Mob -- took their distinctively dirty south funk to new, galaxy-spanning heights.
Perhaps some of you (hopefully most of you) are old enough to remember (or at least be aware of ) Dungeon Family's first and only album as a collective, under the collective moniker, Even In Darkness. The 2001 release is celebrating its 15th year in rotation this November, and to toast to its new mile mark, Sony Legacy Recordings is reissuing the debut album on white-out wax as a 2xLP.
