Pass The Popcorn: Don Cheadle's Miles Davis Biopic 'Miles Ahead' Set To Debut At New York Film Festival

Over a year ago, Don Cheadle revealed that he'd be at the helm as both star and director of a forthcoming biopic treatment of the late jazz giant Miles Davis. Now, after a successful run of crowd-funding on IndieGoGo, a few glimpses of the actor at work on the horn and all of the anticipation in the world, the film has just landed a very high-profile debut. Miles Ahead will be screened on closing night of this year's New York Film Festival, just in time for Oscar season. The festival runs from September 25th through October 11th with few films actually confirmed for an appearance, but this anxiously awaited telling of Davis' legacy will be the first of its kind and a sure treat for the eye and ear. Read a statement from Cheadle on the film's acceptance to NYFF below along with the IndieGoGo campaign video, which features Cheadle musing with Miles' son and nephew about the film.

"I am happy that the selection committee saw fit to invite us to the dance. It’s very gratifying that all the hard work that went into the making of this film, from every person on the team, has brought us here. Miles’ music is all-encompassing, forward-leaning, and expansive. He changed the game time after time, and New York is really where it all took off for him."
