Two days ago, DMX's representatives announced that he had checked himself into a rehab facility, canceling scheduled shows in the process.

TMZ is reporting that contrary to popular belief, the rapper did not relapse before entering the facility. Sources say that one of DMX's children has been in and out of the hospital. With that stress in addition to the pressure of this comeback tour, the veteran rapper felt it was best to be proactive.

Last month, DMX announced his new deal with Def Jam Records, as well as plans for a new album. Since then, however, the comeback tour has hit a few speed bumps. Last week, he reportedly bailed on Def Jam's 35th-anniversary party in Brooklyn. He was scheduled to play this weekend's Rolling Loud Festival, but announced his plans to enter rehab on Sunday.
After a year-long prison stint for tax evasion, the 48-year-old rapper told GQ that he looked forward to releasing an album in the near future.
