Two weeks ago, Dave Chappelle canceled the remaining shows of his Austin, Texas residency with Joe Rogan after testing positive for COVID-19. After a two-week quarantine, Chappelle has announced three more dates at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater for this weekend, February 5th-7th. Tickets go on sale today at 5 PM Central Standard Time.
The shows will be socially distant, as the entirety of recent Chappelle sets have been. The venue is offering reserved table seating, enforcing a mandatory mask policy and administering on-site rapid COVID-19 testing. Fans can get their tickets at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q’s official website.
Chappelle drew headlines after appearing in a photo with Rogan, Elon Musk and Grimes, who had tested positive for COVID-19 the week before. Rogan and Grimes both denied either party’s responsibility for spreading the virus to Chappelle.
“Because people are asking, I was not exposed to the person who had COVID and I have tested negative every day this week. Also, the person that gave covid to Dave was NOT Elon’s partner, Grimes,” Rogan wrote.
Over the summer, Dave Chappelle had to halt his socially-distant stand-up series in Ohio due to concerns about the virus. Guests of the short-lived series included Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Tiffany Haddish, and more. These events also enforced social distancing measures and required fans to be tested upon entry. Despite rising COVID-19 numbers throughout the country, it seems as though independent concert venues will continue to push through.
In order to comply with social distancing measures, the venue will not offer individual seats. Fans will have to purchase entire tables in groups of 4, 6, or 8. No cameras or recording devices will be allowed. Fans who purchased tickets for one of the cancelled dates through Front Gate Tickets will not be allowed entry to the show.
