Daptone Records presents The Poets Of Rhythm: The Anthology 1992 - 2003 - a complete compilation of tracks from the German duo of funk and soul revivalists known as The Poets Of Rhythm. The Poets Of Rhythm served as a major influence for the Daptone label and it's founders, who remain devotees of the analog crackle and unadulterated soul that typified the group's sound when they first emerged in 1992 - the post-talk box era populated by New Jack Swing and the subsequent arrival of bump and grind aesthetic that still stands in stark contrast to the music The Poets had chosen to put out. Daptone has teamed with EDAN ahead of the October 1st release to deliver an official promo for the forthcoming project that features the Brooklyn MC spitting over their J.B. heavy composition entitled "Santa's Got A Bag Of Soul" - this take on the track is a great way to bridge the gap by appealing to hip-hop fans and producers with an ear for classic samples and dope tunes who may have otherwise missed such a solid collection of certified joints.
