Kentucky Attorney General Invokes Breonna Taylor's Name At RNC, Still Hasn't Brought Her Justice
Daniel Cameron has yet to complete his investigation in Breonna Taylor's murder.
Daniel Cameron, the Kentucky Attorney General overseeing the investigation of Breonna Taylor's murder, was one of the speakers at the 2020 Republican National Convention on Tuesday night.
Cameron, a Republican and Trump supporter, only spoke of Taylor once — and in passing — during his speech.
"'Democracy is a system that recognizes the equality of humans before the law,'" Cameron said, quoting Dwight Eisenhower, before adding: "Whether you are the family of Breonna Taylor or David Dorn, these are the ideals that will heal our nation’s wounds."
The remainder of his speech was mostly directed at Joe Biden and his comment that if Black people aren't voting for him "you ain't Black," a remark he made back in May.
"Mr. Vice President look at me, I am Black. We are not all the same, sir," Cameron said. "I am not in chains. My mind is my own. And you can’t tell me how to vote because of the color of my skin."
Cameron has received criticism for his handling of Taylor's murder that was a result of an improper raid led by officers a part of the Louisville Police Department. The officers involved in the shooting — Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove and Jonathan Matttingly — have been placed on administrative reassignment, but have yet to be arrested or charged.
Since the speech has surfaced social media, a number of people have reacted to it and called out Cameron for taking on the speaking engagement despite still not being done with Taylor's investigation.
