In a fitting end to J Dilla month DJ A1 drops a punchy collection of brand new house tracks built around three Dilla joints for the J Dilla House Breaks Collection. Reaching into the electronic dance roots that remain pillars of midwest music meccas Detroit and Chicago, this project finds the Windy City revving its motors to soul-clap ready renditions of Dilla's "Baby," "Players" and "My People Hold On" - a track that features the Erykah Badu vocal from Dilla's original production prominently. This is a project in a small package that weighs a ton. Three times dope, every track and change on this joint is worth repeating and it is available for free download. DJ A1 did a bang up job.
