Daft Punk May Be Hitting The Road In 2017, According To A Recent Reddit Discovery

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Everyone's favorite funky robots may be hitting the road next year according to some resourceful Reddit detective's findings. This past weekend, a specially dedicated Daft Punk page was discovered on Lollapalooza's site, fueling rumors that the pioneering electro-funkateers just might be up to something in 2017.

Their The Weeknd collaboration "STARBOY" landed last week, which doesn't exactly walk back any of the speculation here, but we're certainly not mad at the prospect of new Daft Punk arriving in the near or distant future. Last year BBC released a definitive doc on Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter (BKA Daft Punk) which was the first sign of life from the duo following their Yeezus assist and their own Random Access Memories LP before that, both of which took home Grammys and cemented them as figures for the millenial music generation.

HYPETRAK notes if they did, in fact, set sail on the festival circuit next year, it would be perfectly in line with their once in a decade touring schedule, with their last tour being in 2007 and 1997 before that. So who knows, really? We're just happy to know we might get a chance to see them in-the-flesh and not in plastic figurines or shiny, LED-laced helmet mock-ups. Keep your eyes on us for updates. This could be the real deal.
