Could Donald Glover Play Young Lando In 'Han Solo' Spinoff Movie?
Donald Glover is on a roll right now, man! The creative is soon to debut his FX television show, Atlanta to the masses, joined the cast of Sony / Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming feature and, according to The Wrap, could be possibly up to go to a galaxy, far, far away.
Yup, the multifaceted rapper-slash-actor is up for a powerful role in the Star Wars spinoff film, which is looking to revolve around a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich). Glover, according to the rumor, is slated to play a young Lando Calrissian, who was originally portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars trilogy.
It has been speculation for months once casting for Solo hit the web, as fans wondered out loud who from Han’s complicated past might turn up for the project. For those who don’t known, Calrissian is better known as the Cloud City casanova, who presses his luck by using charm, wit and guile to get out of sticky situations. The current code name in casting circles for this character is “Chance,” possibly due to the character’s equal appreciation of cards and dice.
Even though Lando had a huge part and made his debut in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, we may get more on Solo and his relationship in the new standalone film. There was a famous nod where Lando talks about losing the Millennium Falcon to Solo in a game called sabacc, one we might finally see unfold with Donald Glover in the leading role.
The Han Solo solo film is being directed by the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street). For now, take this with a grain of blue milk, as Lucasfilm reps and Disney have yet to officially comment.
