Tory Lanez has released a new album titled Chixtape 5. The project, which serves as the follow-up to Chixtape 4 (released about three years ago), is full of nostalgia as Lanez recreates classic hip-hop and R&B hits from the 2000s. (The album cover even features Ashanti.) The album also features skits that make references to other notable hits during that decade, and there’s one skit in particular that has left listeners wondering if it’s a joke or not.
On “Busted,” a skit that comes after the end of track 11, “Best of You,” (which features Mya) Lanez is on a movie date with a girl named Leah as he gets confronted by another girl named Jalissa. Jalissa then explains this elaborate plan she enacted on Lanez to get back at him.
Jalissa then says the following: “So in the good words of my brother Maxwell, ‘How does it feel?'”
But those words aren’t from Maxwell — they’re from D’Angelo and his hit song “Untitled (How Does it Feel)” from his 2000 album Voodoo. It’s a hilarious exchange which has been made all the more better because no one knows if the reference was made in jest or not.
Since the album’s release, a number of people have taken to Twitter to express their confusion with the reference.
We’re going to believe that the exchange is in jest, because how do you not know “Untitled” is by D’Angelo? Anyways, Chixtape 5 is currently available to stream here.
